Mardi Mix ("we," "our," or "us") operates the platform available at this domain. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories:

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, profile avatar, and authentication credentials. If you sign in via a third-party provider (such as Google or GitHub), we receive basic profile information from that provider in accordance with your permissions.

Content You Create

We store blog posts, articles, images, and other content you generate or upload through the Service, including content produced using our AI-assisted tools. This content is associated with your account and stored on our servers.

Usage and Technical Data

We collect aggregate analytics such as page views, feature usage patterns, browser type, device type, and general geographic region. This data is used in anonymized or aggregated form to improve the Service.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to Mardi Mix Pro, payment is processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number or sensitive payment details on our servers. We retain only transaction records and subscription status necessary to manage your account.

AI Prompt Data

When you use our AI-powered content generation tools, the prompts and instructions you provide are transmitted to third-party AI providers (including Anthropic, OpenAI, and/or Google) to generate responses. Please be aware that these providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle input data. We encourage you not to include sensitive personal information in AI prompts.

Gameplay and Activity Data

When you play games on Mardimix, we collect your scores, game outcomes, play duration, and statistics. When you use other features such as personality assessments or divination tools, we collect your responses and results. This data is associated with your account and may be displayed publicly under conditions you consent to (see Section 7).

Chat and Messages

When you use Mardimix's built-in chat to communicate privately with other users, we store your messages on our servers to deliver them and to enable our moderation review process. Direct messages are visible only to the recipient(s) and to our moderation team when reports are filed. Messages are not used for advertising or shared with third parties except as required to operate the Service or comply with law.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Deliver, operate, and improve the Service
• Process subscription payments and manage Pro access
• Display your content on the platform under your chosen author name and avatar
• Serve advertisements to free-tier users (see Section 6)
• Respond to support requests and communications
• Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. AI-Generated Content and Third-Party Providers

Mardi Mix uses artificial intelligence services provided by third parties, including Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, and Google, to power content generation, image creation, games, astrology features, and other tools on the platform. When you use these features, your inputs (prompts, questions, preferences) are transmitted to these providers to generate responses.

Each AI provider operates under its own privacy policy and data handling practices. We recommend reviewing the policies of these providers if you have concerns about how your prompt data may be used:

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to maintain your login session, remember your preferences (such as theme and audio settings), and enable core platform functionality. We may also use cookies to serve relevant advertisements to free-tier users through third-party ad networks. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, though disabling certain cookies may affect Service functionality.

6. Advertising

Free-tier users may see advertisements served by third-party advertising networks. These networks may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to deliver ads that are relevant to your interests based on your browsing activity. Mardi Mix Pro subscribers are not shown advertisements. If you wish to opt out of interest-based advertising, you may do so through the opt-out mechanisms provided by your applicable regional advertising standards body (such as the NAI or DAA in the US, or Your Online Choices in the EU).

7. Public Information and Leaderboards

Some information you provide may be visible to other Mardimix users. We disclose this here so you can make informed choices about what you share.

• Display name and profile photo: visible in chat conversations, on articles you publish, on natal charts you share publicly, and any other public interactions within the app.
• Game scores and leaderboards: game scores and statistics may appear on global leaderboards visible to all other Mardimix users. This includes your display name, score, game type, and timestamp. You will be prompted for explicit consent the first time you complete a game with leaderboard support, and no score is uploaded to any leaderboard without your explicit consent. You can change your leaderboard sharing preference at any time in Settings (iOS app: Settings → Privacy → Leaderboard Sharing; web: Settings).
• Published articles: articles you publish are visible to all users on the public news feed under your display name.
• Direct messages: visible only to the recipient and to our moderation team in the event a report is filed. They are not shared publicly.

8. How We Share Information

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: With trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (hosting, payment processing, analytics, AI providers) under confidentiality obligations.
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Mardi Mix, our users, or the public.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice to affected users.

9. Data Retention

We retain your account information and user-generated content for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes. Files uploaded solely for transient processing (such as file conversion) are deleted after the operation completes.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Deletion: You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app at Settings → Privacy → Delete Account (iOS) or Settings → Account → Delete Account (web). Deletion is irreversible and removes your personal information within 30 days. Public content you have created (articles, reports) may be anonymized rather than fully deleted to preserve community context.
• Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your data.
• Opt-Out (CCPA): California residents have the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.
• Leaderboard Opt-Out: You can disable leaderboard score sharing at any time in Settings. Historical scores already uploaded may be removed by emailing privacy@mardimix.com.

For access, correction, portability, or CCPA opt-out requests, please contact us through our About page. For deletion, the in-app flow described above is the fastest option. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

11. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure credential storage, and access controls to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will take prompt steps to delete it.

13. International Users

Mardi Mix is operated in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. Users in the European Economic Area have additional rights under the GDPR, which we honor upon verified request.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by posting a notice on the Service or emailing registered users. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
